Friends of
the Manitowoc River Watershed
Started by Kim Kettner and Wendy Lutzke in 2012, the Friends of the Manitowoc Watershed (FMRW) is a group of volunteers working to raise awareness about the water quality issues impacting the Manitowoc River and the land draining into it. We are committed to connecting people to the Manitowoc River through our hands-on events and educational workshops to increase appreciation, awareness, and use of the river. Find out more.
CLEAN
Twice each year, we organize beach cleanups on Lake Michigan. We also hold a river cleanup once per year.
RESTORE
Join us at Lower Henry Schuette Park in Manitowoc to help remove invasive plants, plant new trees, and participate in a monthly walk-through to report on park conditions.
CELEBRATE
We love seeing people out on the water! Join us for paddling events under the sun or the full moon!
advocate
We host on-site opportunities for learning and identifying invasive plant species; we place storm drain markers in Manitowoc neighborhoods; we host workshops that inform and inspire people to think about the watershed in everyday life.
