our
Mission
The purpose of Friends of the Manitowoc River Watershed (FMRW) is to provide a unified voice to enhance the Manitowoc River and its watershed.
our
Vision
FMRW seeks to connect the people to the river: individuals, businesses, organizations, and government in order to increase awareness of the river, its history and ecosystem, and show that people care about the Manitowoc River and desire to enhance the watershed.
our
Goals
The Friends will encourage those groups/individuals having an interest or 'stake' in water quality issues in the Manitowoc River Basin to actively participate in the Friends Group. The Friends will seek cooperative collaboration and use an integrated, watershed-based planning and decision-making process to accomplish the following goals:
Identify nutrient and other water quality concerns.
Inventory existing point and non-point sources.
Prioritize these concerns.
Identify strategies for achieving water quality objectives and desired conditions such as river-clean up events and additional educational outreach based on the recommendations of the Friends group.
Routinely monitor progress and make necessary adjustments to our annual action plan.
